Arthur Downer recently decided to make the trip of a lifetime to the Holy Land in 2018. Thanks to help from youtube videos, it was possible to select the following sites to visit:
Holy Thursday morning visited The Upper Room, Mary’s Home and King Davids Grave and then the Western / Weeping Wall
Holy Thursday Afternoon Tour of the Mount of Olives including the Pater Noster Church, The Church of the Ascension, the Dominus Flavit Church. The tour finished in the Garden of Gethsemini.
We then took the same route Jesus took from the Garden of Getsemini, through the Lion Gate and on to Via Dolorosa. We joined a group doing the stations of the Cross).
On Good Friday, we went to Golgotha and the Garden Tomb to join a group of pilgrims. This group had a religious service, singing hymns in the area. This visit was the highlight of the trip. (It is detailed in its own page https://arthurdowner.com/index.php/sample-page/)
Holy Saturday involved a day long trip to the Mountain of the Temptations in Jericho and The Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.
Easter Sunday was spent attending all the ceremonies (including Mass) in Holy Sepulchre Church in Jerusalem.
Easter Monday began at 5 am and took in Emmaus, Nazareth, Capernaum, The River Jordan (both at Capernaum and Jericho). The trip ended at midnight.
